A New Beginning!!

2008 s round the corner..a new beginning!! indeed!!
i have started off with changing the look of my blog :)
sadly blogger does not offer much in the shades of blue, ob my fav :D, so picked tis one!!
pretty refreshing..unlike the stuff on this blog :D
and i guess this one's gonna stay as in i m getting this feeling 'this is the one' :):)

anyways as for me..lots needs to be done and undone!
my hair need a change..a cut will do..may be some hideous flicks to scare the hell outta my friends :D but 'mummi ko na kehna..kyonki mummy ko nahi hai pata!!' :D:D
on the serious side, need to join dance class, restart yoga, read loads of marathi books, catch up with studies, learn continental cooking, restart badminton....
bah...
the list is just overwhelming...
at least the spirit s in the right place..
as Swami Vivekananda says 'Arise, Awaken and stop not till the goal is reached!' (dunno how i still remember school days ka sayings!! )
Nightflier has started..wat bout u ppl..post and let everyone know :):)
till we meet again...ARISE, AWAKEN....

wish u all a cheerful new year ahead!!
adios 2007!

illusions ...

i was in mumbai sometime back and this peculiar incident happened with me...
had promised meself that would surely write about it..somehow could not (working lady saga :P)
well anyways, sad stories apart :D, here u go...

we were having lunch at this simple hotel in colaba, when suddenly, two hands poked my shoulder from the window (me was sitting beside the window giving an exotic view to the streets of aamchi mumbai:)) first i was startled then it scared the hell outta me..
two beggar kids, were asking for some food..i m pretty bad at handling this cos i dont like the whole idea, of giving food for free..well thinking i was, to somehow wriggle out of the situation, dont know what struck me..i took my bag, took out a five star i had bought for emergencies, and gave it to the kid..wild with joy it went to its other friends..the most astonishing thing happened then, instead of eating it him/her(dont remember the gender) self, the child gave the "5 *" to its younger sibling and both finished it happily..taken over by the whole emotional scene, i also took some snaps of them (now i know why the faarainers find indian beggars so amusing :))
although, the beggar kids' other friends thronged us for more '5 eesstarss' later, and i also found out that their whole family was into this begging business (i did feel sorry for meself then), i was happy cos i had made someone happy!!

hmmm...made someone happy...
taking a look back, i realize, what i gave to the children was momentary happiness..
after a day or two when, they or their parents could not find anything to eat, those kids would be left in the vicious misery..
is it always like this? may be i m thinking too deep, over a mundane matter..but it is worth giving a thought...there are people who are happy over small things in life and there are people who ooze happiness, like they dont know what happiness is?? may be the small kids had not even realized, that they were happy and they were in such euphoric state...may be the giver (me) was aware of what happiness (chocolat) m giving, but the taker (the kids) just knew that they r getting something exotic to eat and it needs to be eaten...so simple yet so complex, isnt it??

illusions i say are good for health :D
hadnt it been for writing and this blog, i was surely a goner ...:):)

till we meet again, stay simple..

p.s. good i dint write this blog then :D

Wat a comeback!!!!

M blogging after ages...and there could not have been a much better reason to make a come back...
Madhuri Dixit is back :):):)

dear madam,
its a pleasure to see u act, dance and emote...
and your latest movie was a treat !!! i was never sooooo taken over by someone :)
the dancing and the performance is just awe inspiring !!
speechless...is the word...when u danced on the very drab and ordinary title track, i was just speechless :) accepted that a musical needed a really deep, meaningful music score; just hats off to u for lifting the movie from nowhere to everyone's heart!!!
i dont want to review the movie, as there s, truly, nothing new about it...we have the usual culprits like poor script (believable in first half, but which flies off to lala land in the second half), not so great music...on the positives, its got great set design (thanks to cinematographer turned director), all characters are wonderful and i liked the whole 'shaher ko kala ki jarurat hoti hai' wala funda!!
but madam, its u, u and only u who has ruled throughout the movie...
i dont remember a single scene, when u were around, and my heart dint skip a beat :)
it just went mmmmmmm....:):)
once again i thank you.
it was a totally incredible experience, watching someone do what he s best at...ur dancing skills are just too much to write about :) and i dont really want to exert myself to come up with any more suitable adjectives :D
i would just say...ye dil maange more :)
love u loads!!!

your loyal fan,
nightflier !!

P.S. for beginners 'Aaja Nach le' s Madhuri Dixit s first movie after a 6 yrs sabbatical...and its much more than worth a dekho..u ll realise it when she dances :)
rest is great!! happy reading...

the film review thread!

this is a movie review thread, nightflier's starting to promote the film critic (:P) in her (more appropriately the film buff, ardent fan and who can watch anything, which will b proved in this thread :D)
so today's review is about a film called 'Laga Chunari mein Daag' (!!@@$**#!!)
lets start with some trivia......
the film's director is a noted ad film maker, who has recently won some award for aaj tak's campaign, who has shot some fabulous music videos (apparently, he shoots all the songs for Euphoria tha band) whose directorial debut Parineeta, highly appreciated by critics (i was not one then :D) won him a national award and blah blah blah..... stories can be written on how fabulous an add maker he is, or how some of his videos have moved me, or how Parineeta promised a director with his senses in the right place!!!

the synopsis in short: a small family in a small Indian town is in a financially crunchy situation, with meagre sources of income..the elder daughter takes the responsibility of leading them thro these tough times, as a son would have...goes to mumbai..her too-little-to-get-her-a-job educational qualifications land her up in a situation where she has to resort to the quick ways of money making (Smart people will understand the quicker ways :D and btw is the story writer trying to emphasize that Ajukeshan is still overly rated in the society and not human qualities!! this leaves me utterly confused :-/)..anyways all's well for some time..money is coming in..now a small twist..the younger daughter of the family (she has finished her MBA in the mean time) moves to mumbai..so the rest of the movie ends up in convincing everyone that how the elder daughter is a virtuous, little angel, who went haywire just for the sake of her family...heppy heppy ending for a not so heppy family :)

Anyways, now all said and done, mr. director disappoints big time with Laga! where is the script dude? my only question to the wise man!! Just a potentially great cast does not do wonders to a movie, the story needs to be told effectively, if u want to make ur film a success! The protagonists character is so drab that u end up feeling nothing for her.. the story moves forward in such a cliche way that, u feel like, ur watching a movie u thought we all movie lovers were done with! some scenes are very stupidly melodramatic...the ganges, banaras ke ghaat dont make u wonder at the simplicity of small Indian towns...simply because they look so repetitious (apparently, Sarkaar has done a song on same locations with a famous music band!)
the only high of the movie is konkona, who i first thought was wasted, but this female has an incorrigible quality of leaving the audience awestruck with her smooth, easygoing performance!!! Thumbs up to u girl! Jaya Bachachan suits the role to the hilt..no one could have done it better.. Lastly dear Rani feel sorry for this fact that, the most important character of the movie was so lifeless..better luck next time.. all the guys are just fillers, this being a story of the journey of a woman!
The music s just average, though talented Mr. moitra has tried to make it colorful with some folk touch...
All in all, a disappointment to the average filmy buff and a huge disappointment to the class movie goers!!

Happy viewing till we meet again!! :)
Cheers.....

The work life diary....

TO BE a working lady is a bit depressing sometimes....
u have a routine somehow woven into this fast life.. for eg. for weekedays i have a routine plan of going to work-work for 8 hours-hour 9 (this has a standard deviation of 3 hrs, at least :D depending on how badly u have screwed it up :P) get back home-home chores-chores like cooking (its a hobby which has become a chore :D),tiding up the the house, roomies' update-updates to family (pyaare gharwaale u know :))-........ Well, somehow, a normal working day ends on a very happening note, i.e. i go to sleep reading some book or the other, after dabbling in various activities for 16 hrs .....
it's very exciting actually... given that i discover new places everyday, when i commute to office ( the journey, calling it so, deliberately :), takes almost an hour).. i do my work efficiently and effectively, giving meself the pleasure of WORKING! ... take time out to decide what to cook everyday and plan accordingly .... share my day with roomies, share their experiences ..... talk to parents, share and get insights into their not so interesting routines ( they r both into happy retirement phase, u know) pep them up with liveliness, fun and exciting activities (recent was compelling them to watch Chak de!, which they did after much pestering from my side for 2 months :)) ........
Moral: i m happy at the end of the day :)
it can be very boring, actually, tooo ..... :)
given that i dont c the same route i travel by to office with open eyes.. i finish up my day's job just for the heck of it.. i drag myself home, to cook and eat half heartedly.. dont talk to anyone at home.. and sleep off on a tired note ....
Moral: i m less happy at the end of the day ( dont know wat emocon to put, confused may be :-\)
day after day of exciting days dont even bring to notice the fun i m having!! but a single boring day and here i am cursing the monotony of life... strange i say....
stranger fact is, a single boring day makes me think that how could not i strive for happiness today?? whereas an eternity of exciting days, and i dont even realize that im happy!!!!
Jeez!! its so complicated!! darn it!!
but its a boring day which brings to notice, the unknown unknowns ( as told by some great sage :D) of life...and makes u strive for an exciting day...it again proves that every dark cloud has a silver lining :D incorrigible optimism, i must say !! :)
but sometimes i do feel like, standing outside the ground, and watch others play..... do i thank god or wat, that, weekends exist :D !!

that dont impress me much !!

Ladies and gentlemen!! Presenting to u a jewel from the mines of lala (where men have forgotten the art of wooing women :D) land...
below is a friend request scrap i received on a popular networking site..

i was literally rofl !!!
With due respect (no offense :)) to the protagonist's (here, the person who wrote this) feelings, i think its time guys learnt that,
'that dont impress me (for that matter any female :D) much!!'
Guys, females are always on a look out for a clearer heart and a strong character!
the words, all this extravaganza is an adage; they surely dont want someone constantly uttering all this gibberish, which they dont even mean!
ha.. once in a while a bit of romance is welcome! :)
but then dont forget to use the language ur comfortable with, at least bad grammar wont prove a turn off :)
and believe me, most females go weak in their knees, for straight(pun intended!)forward guys!
for the lesser known Wooing is an art..and it starts from a clear heart (for everyone :)), me thinks!
Me not a veteran in this, but this thing really moved me :D

P.S. Suggestions and discussions are welcome :)

Exam Blues !!!!

Hush....
today gave my toefl i.e. test of english as foreign (i don think so though :P) language!
had not studied a bit (seriously :D) for it..i mean what do u expect, me to study for an exam which has a reading, listening, speaking, and writing (bah.....!!!) section ???
i can definitely read ... my junior KG teacher's must be real proud of me :-)
listen .... ahem ... well i am a good listener (that's wat my friends tell me, poor things dunno that half the time i am staring into thin air!!! :P)
Write ... well someone who's written 7 blogs till now can definitely write, right???
Speak ... hmmm... here lies the glitch...
Anyways point is not whether i could pass the exam (actually the scores come home after 3 weeks so can't say anything, but m sure i'll make all my teachers' proud !!), the point is that i went for the exam literally without any substantial preparation!
I had loads of material to go through, loads of practice softwares installed on my system...but i chose to go for the exam kinda unprepared...i just knew about the pattern and that's it...
I mean i even ignored the fact that it had cost me 150 USD (that too from my own pocket :D)
I just went like that .....
Another feather in my cap for taking risk at a place where twas not at all expected and required.. I aint proud of it people...
Have i become so cool that exams dont bother me much nowadays or is it just some attitude problem ??
I am proud of those school, even college days when i used to voraciously read all the available study material, prepare my own extensive notes, and go for the exam like i never cared for it! U know wat that was cooler! Cos i knew come wat may i am going to win.
(Except for M-II, an engineering subject, it had scared the hell outta me :|) I have hardly had exam blues...
But with changing times, my attitude changed and i started taking exams for granted! I still dont fear them, but i miss the apprehension u have, when u have worked really hard for something and are about to be rewarded for it! Well, getting good marks was never a concern, the real achievement lied in thoroughly understanding something and being actually able to apply it. The sheer satisfaction u get when u have given ur best to something is quite unmatchable!
I realized this thing when i was doing my company training in mysore.. the lost drive had somehow come back.. I used to study like i had never before.. learned some 8 or 9 subjects in a span of 4 months.. read lots of books .. and i really-really enjoyed it!
hmm...
As blingo says lagta hai Bournvita pina padega !!! :)
